If I am going to live on the site of my new build, do I need to have planning permission if I am going to live there in a caravan?

When we lived here in a caravan, we were told that we should theoretically have planning permission to live there in it, but that they usually turned a blind eye to it. The expression was that it was usually classified as a "site hut" and therefore did not need it.
I did actually mention it to the planner one day, and he didn't seem to mind at all. I suppose it depends on your particular planner. Paul. |

A lot of people in this area (Isle of Skye) put static caravans on the site to live in or work from while building.
The approach planners use locally is to put a condition in the permission that the caravan is removed once the build is complete. I believe that this is a form of 'Regularising', i.e. the caravan is not supposed to be there, but the planners will accept it if they know it will be removed later. Of course, many people 'forget' to remove the caravans ![]() Gammacee, |
