Can I Do It?

The very idea of a self build can prove a daunting prospect. Many believe it is for those members of society with deep pockets or for people ‘in the know’, perhaps with building experience. In fact research shows that fewer than 5% of self builders have any prior construction experience.

Most self builders perform a managerial role, coordinating the project but having very little involvement in the hands-on aspect of the build itself. Others decide to have no involvement at all in the build, and instead outsource to either a single contractor or a package company. All are self builders. From the complete novice to the experienced construction professional, from the young family to the retired couple, they all share one common goal. That is to build a bespoke home tailored to their design, suited to their lifestyle and, as far as possible, within their budget. Up to 20,000 people take part in a self build project annually. They encompass people of all ages and from all walks of life. So why not you?
